The Week Since the Surgery.

BH did great since the surgery. We got the official word that there is no cancer, her wound is healing nicely, and she is starting to get her strength back. She has been a little grouchy, but that is understandable. She has hated being confined to the house while recovering, but understood that she needed to recover. All in all, it has gone very well.

La Nina figured out how to climb out over her room by placing pillows and books in front of the gate, then swinging her leg up and over the top. As active as she is, if either BH or myself are by ourselves with her at home, we can't leave her un-attended fro even long enough to go to the bathroom, let alone take a shower or anything of that nature, so we have to put her in her room and put a video on for her. In order to do that now, I have had to modify her door. I am turning it into a Dutch door that is cut in at four and a half feet up. I finished the bottom part, but still half to do the top part.

The only trouble this weekend came from The mother-in-law. She was here to help watch La Nina in the days after the surgery. I have written before how she can be. She is an expert on every topic, knows more than everyone else, and constantly gives me instructions on how to do everything.

I do love her, and get along well with her for the most part. The constant instructions get on my nerves. She had to give me instructions on how to build the Dutch door, how to feed the cat, how to take La Nina to the bathroom, and how to cook every meal we ate this week. What a pain. But I was glad she came up to help, it made it easier on everyone.

We took La Nina to the park the other day, and one of the Rangers had a display of reptiles there to look at. La Nina loved it. I think she would have picked up the rat snake they had if it wouldn't have been in a cage. Of course, the mother-in-law had to out talk the ranger, and even contradicted the ranger on a couple of points. I could tell this got under the ranger's skin.

I bought La Nina a set of skates and pads the other day and she is trying to learn how to do it. She is nervous on them. I got myself some roller blades at the same time, so I could do it with her. It has been 20 years since I have skated and was not very good then, so this should be an adventure in learning the roller blades. Wish me luck.
