Timing may be on my side

I mentioned in my last post, that I would wait until timing was on my side to buy a car. To give a little background, I am looking at the Kia Sportage, and the Hyndai Tuscan. They are the same vehicle just with a different name. I went shopping on Saturday to get the game rolling, and since then every salesman and woman that I talked to has called me back at least twice. I am going over today at noon to start the haggling process.

I kind of like the haggling process. I am doing it a bit different this time, though. I am telling them straight up to give me their best offer because I will be going to 3 other dealerships to compare prices. I will also let them know that I will come back even if someone beat their offer to give them a chance to counter. I plan on bleeding every cent I can out of this deal.

One thing I know though, I will be patient. I think that is one of my better qualities. I will not get upset, I will not threaten, I will just state the facts to them. That being I want the best deal I can get.

I didn't used to be that way. I once went in to a Jeep dealership, and walked out 4 hours later without a vehicle. I had them so frustrated, that they changed salesmen on me 3 different times. They wanted to make a deal, but I wouldn't budge on what I wanted to pay. I left mad, and they were frustrated. It was not the way to end the deal. I could have just as easily left on a positive note, and not gone through all the hoop-la that I did.

I have learned since then to be nice with the dealers, be honest with them, and you will get more in the end. I think that is actually a good motto for life.

Wish me luck,

Deej.
