And Here We Go Again!!!!!!!!
You know, just when you think that your week is going well, everything seems to be falling into place, and all is somewhat right with the world, out of nowhere you get smacked in the middle of the forehead with a ball peen hammer.
evidently, since the last time she was here, MIL and BH have gotten along when talking on the phone. The had even figured out ways to work on their craft stuff together, and everything seemed to be going well. I should have known it was a facade.
Wednesday morning, MIL calls at about 9:00. BH answered with a smile on her face, obviously happy to here from her. Then I see her face sink, and she kind of looked down at the floor. My first thought was that someone had passed away. BH didn't say anything for a while, and when she did it was in a whisper tone. I knew then that something was wrong.
I sat a little closer, and could actually hear MIL yelling at BH from where I was sitting. BH is keeping her voice very calm, and is trying to talk to her mother, but it was not working. Finally I hear BH say, "Papa, I wasn't yelling at her, I was just talking to her. Papa... Papa No, I was yelling. She was yelling at me." All in a reasonable tone. Then she got tired aof it and hung up.
evidently, MIL had got on the phone and right away started yelling at BH that she couldn't do all the crafting, the pattern was to difficult, and she just couldn't do it all. She didn't want to pay a booth rental fee, and didn't have time to do all the work, and that the only reason she said she would was because BH had bullied her into it.
She went on to say that she had told me that she didn't want to do it, and that if I said otherwise, I was lying. Now, this did not happen. She told me that even if BH didn't want to do it, she still would just to prove to BH that she could. This happened the day of their last blow-up.
BH Said that at that point, MIL put her husband on the phone to tell BH to stop yelling at her and being mean. Okay, BH can be a little grouchy at times, we all can, but this time she was not. Her voice never rose above a conversational tone, and most of the time she was almost pleading with her mom to please calm down.
BH was devastated for the rest of the day. I couldn't cheer her up to save me. La Nina could get her smile once in a while, but it never lasted.
I have mentioned before that MIL can be very overbearing, but this was a whole new dimension. She called BH just to yell at her, and then turned it around to sound like it was the other way around. She even lied about what she had told me. I always had an inkling that she could be this way, but had never seen it.
BH is finally starting come around a little bit, but still gets sad when she is tired. She even says that she will not call MIL until she calls and apologizes. That will never happen, but this time think it will be a long time before they talk to each other.
Let me tell you, I'm glad I don't drink much anymore, because this would be enough to keep me going for a month.
