Corned Beef
My partner-in-crime at work and I were talking about restaurants the other day, and I mentioned a pub that he and I had gone to just north of Chicago last fall. It had the best corned beef sandwich I have ever had.
We were up there to go through some training for work. My partner-in-crime, who I will call "Climber" because he has a goal to reach the high points in each of the 50 states, told me that sandwich was nothing that I should have gone to this deli or that deli here in Ohio. I said great, lets go. He then informed me that they had all closed down.
HUH?!?!?!? Then why tell me about them.
I asked him if there were any still open, and he said none that he knew of. Sheesh, get me worked up for a good corned beef sandwich, then tell me I can't have one.
I told him that he was like a girl I used to date, all talk and no action.
He just laughed.
Which brings me to the topic of this blog. Why can I not find, in a city this size, a decent corned beef sandwich. I thought it was bad in Colorado Springs, and I thought getting closer to the east coast it would get better. But no, it got worse.
I guess all the good deli's were all replaced by sports bars. Not that I mind good buffalo wings once in a while, but what about just a plain old good sandwich place.
I know, it's not the most socially relevant topic, but dammit, when I want corned beef, I want corned beef.
Later,
Deej
