A Little About Me

I was born in a small town in the mountains of Colorado. I grew up in an even smaller town. Well, to say that I grew up in any town is a far stretch of the imagination. I actually lived 17 miles outside of the town where I went to school. The school I attended held Kindergarten through 12th grade all in the same building. There were 16 students in my graduating class, 5 girls, and 11 boys. Talk about bad odds for the guys.

I thought I had a pretty normal childhood. My Dad worked for the division of wildlife, and my Mom worked for the county. We had about 12 to 15 horses, 5 dogs, and a cat. During the school year I competed in sports, football and wrestling, and during the summer I would work on one of the neighboring farms, or washing dishes at the local resort hotel. I worked every summer from the time I was 13 years old on. Like I said, I thought that was normal. I would have never thought of taking a summer off and not working. I spent my days off riding horses or fishing.

My met my first girlfriend when I was 13, she was 12. She went to a neighboring school, and we met through a youth group that my best friends Mom ran. That was really the only time we would see each other. It was over a year before we kissed for the first time. We stopped seeing each other when I was 15, and I didn't have another real girlfriend until I was 18.

School was uneventful, for the most part, I was not the most popular kid, but somewhere in the middle. I was one of the top students, but hated studying. I was not a natural athlete, but with a lot of hard work became the Captain of the football team and a Captain of the wrestling team. I won some all league honors in both, and qualified for the state tournament in wrestling. Football was funny, because I was the second largest guy on the team at 145 lbs. That's right, one hundred and forty five pounds!!!! We played 8-man football and only had 14 guys on the team. We played both ways. There were 4 games my senior year that I was in for every snap.

After high school I joined the Air Force for a short stint, had some minor medical problems and got released. After that, I ended up in Colorado Springs when I finally decided to go to college. I sort of jumped from low paying job, to low paying job, everything from dish washer to landscaping to printing assistant. I would spend my days off camping and fishing, or just being lazy.

When I was 25, I met my wife. A year and a half later we married, and 10 years later, she had my daughter. We now live in Ohio, to be closer to her Mom. Life fro the most part has been good, and I would change very little. I hope, as time goes by, to share more of my past on this blog, but for now, I will leave you with this overview.

I hope you enjoy this look into my life.
